Practice Shading

Love how many techniques Jeremy covered in this course!

I started by using his toy soldier and robot files as I followed along:

And the robot (I love how easy it is to add the stroke to make the edge wobbly!):

Then I got a simple vector illustration of me I'd already made It's was very flat and boring (except I love the dotty background!):

My first attempt:

2nd attempt:

I liked the hair but the white edges don't work for me.

Attempt No.3:Practice Shading - image 10 - student project

Alright, but a bit too subtle...

Last try:

I'm happier with this now.

There's a grain on the arm that closer up, doesn't work so well, but as it's only a practice I'm leaving it as is.

Here are a few closeups:

(See what I mean about the grain on the arm?!)

Thanks for a fantastic course Marcus!

I've definitely got a lot of new techniques to try out!
