I've been so excited to spill the beans on this project--the one that prompted this very class! This nativity illustration is the cover of many more pieces depicting the Christmas story from the promise of his coming to the visiting wise men.

I had a blast working through rich violets as most of the spreads were nighttime scenes and I wanted the feel of the book to be rich in both history and majesty. 

I followed the very same steps shown in this class--laying out the characters (people and animals) within a tight composition... made even more complex as it's a pop up book!
