Pomegranate

Pomegranate - student project

Pomegranate vine painted in watercolor and I also painted another sheet with a full Pom, a cut Pom with its seeds, Pom flowers, and Pom seeds. Then arranged it all into a toss repeating pattern on six different color backgrounds. I didn’t change out the colors of the pattern itself, just the background. I think it looks best on dark backgrounds. On lots of products on Society6 and RedBubble. PS - I eventually did create various color versions of this pattern and they're all in my Spoonflower shop now. Pomegranate - image 1 - student projectPomegranate - image 2 - student projectPomegranate - image 3 - student projectPomegranate - image 4 - student projectPomegranate - image 5 - student projectPomegranate - image 6 - student project

The very last picture in this series was the original watercolor painting.  It was originally painting as part of an IG art challenge, so there was no thought in mind at the time of doing a pattern.  But, I pulled things apart in Procreate and brought into Photoshop to create the pattern. I loved doing the different color ways after taking this class.  These color ways are all in my Society6, RedBubble, Fine Art America and Spoonflower shops.

I had a pattern entitled Moonflowers that was originally from a digital illustration I created for another IG challenge. I used Cat's spot color technique on this pattern when creating different color ways because just using hue/saturation wasn't providing new colors that I liked.  Below is the turquoise version of that pattern I used spot color to make changes to and the second pic is the original color version.

I created written steps for the spot color technique in Apple Notes because it's a bit more complex than the hue/saturation technique.  If anyone is interested in having a copy of my notes, I'm happy to share them. All the color ways I created for this pattern are also in all my shops.
