Poetry using imagery
Morning After
Dawn breaks.
It shatters the sky
In a silent explosion of bright!
Birds pirouette across a cloud on their way
To another day.
The sun throws light
Across the earth in equal measure
But greedy, hungry trees
And buildings
Eat as much of it as they can.
Enough of that glorious gold
Seeps through my window
Pulling away the hypnotic dark
To blow the sleep from my eyes
And tickle my brain.
I breathe deep; tasting the soft of the morning.
For a moment I am content.
But the moment passes and my heavy head whispers
‘Coffee’.
