Paper Cut Nature Scene
Hi Class! If you want a closer look at the two illustrations I made in the class videos, I'm sharing them below, along with one more paper cut piece.

For my "on your own" project, I decided to convert this stylized nature illustration I made back in March of 2020. Below you can see me planning out my layers. There were a lot of overlapping elements in this piece, so I ended up needing 6 layer groups total!

Here is a screenshot after cutting the shapes out of the Paper Pack paper. I loved how perfect the "Finger Paint" paper was for the water! I also chose specific papers based on the texture of the objects, like "Watercolor Wash" and "Dimples" for the mountains.

Here is the colorized paper before I added any lighting effects. I used the reference image feature (see screenshot above) to aid in choosing colors.

And here is the final piece with highlights and shadows! The sun rays were fun to make a bit curled up. I still wanted to incorporate the shaded side of the stone mountain, so I used the fold technique to accomplish that. I also added some pencil details. I love the outcome of this piece!

I also made this cut-out snowflake piece! I posted a mini-tutorial on how to make these in the Discussions tab of this class. :)
