Palette Knife Watercolor Fun

I had such a fun time in this class, Kellie! I started before my three weeks off, when I was spending time with my mom, and I've been patiently waiting to finish the class. I experimented with a palette knife and a credit card for different techniques. I found that no one technique worked better than the others; I enjoyed each process equally.
For most of my paintings, I used salt and gold Pearl-Ex, and I tried using saran wrap on one piece; however, I didn't let it dry before removing it, so it didn't work as intended. I explored many different color combinations. I think the hardest part is knowing how much paint to use. It can be challenging to judge since you don’t always know how the paint will behave, but that’s what makes it fun!
My favorite piece to paint, not necessarily my favorite, was the one displayed at the top with the trees. Since the paint dried slowly, I had plenty of time to relax and enjoy painting each tree. Some of the paintings were created with the leftover paint from the palette knife. I plan to return and do more, as I want to incorporate this technique with what I learned in the mountain landscape class taught by Jane Davies. It’s such a fun and loose way to paint! While they all turned out as landscapes with trees, I would love to experiment with different types of landscapes as well.
