I had done the following during Inktober as a drawing exercise.

If I understand correctly, using lines in the new composition (rough draft) the eye is drawn to the runner no matter where you look.

Texture on the hills all point to him, flanks of the mountains point to him, and the road leads to him. I also cropped out the mountains on each side. Seems to work better than the orriginal.
