You don't want to over work it, think of it like a painting on top of your painting, the first wash you laid down is perfect in the fact that you did not overwork it, you put it on and let the water do the work.  For the darker area you want to repeat the process but only for those areas, let me know if that makes sense

Great job Jay, try putting a little more pigment in the darker areas, that will really make it pop
