My First Water Colour Sketch Journal

My First Water Colour Sketch Journal - student project

Thank you so much for this class Fatih! I only have a dotted journal that's not really suitable for watercolour (that was my excuse anyway!) and I was going to delay starting on this project until my watercolour journal arrives in the post in a few days time. But I was so inspired by your videos that I decided I was just going to get started. I prepped my pages with some gesso first and, yes, the paper is a bit crinkly but I had so much fun with it that I don't really care :)

I have been searching for an art journal class that would inspire me to pick up my brush and I've finally found it. I particularly love the stylized text video. And for the first time ever, I feel so much more confident in playing with watercolours. Thank you!

Here's my latest part-finished spread. I tidied up our much-neglected treehouse (built when children were young) and make it into my "art studio". I love that I can go there to shield myself from the demands of the world and to just do something creative.

Also, I now have a proper art journal with thick paper, so that makes it much more satisfying to work with watercolour. And no more crinkly paper!

Thank you, Fatih, for helping me re-discover the creative parts of me that have been neglected for far too long.

I've now completed this spread with a drawing of a bowl of my favourite noodles :)

I also created a "my day" kind of page with some doodles.

I have more pages to share. I am not using specific layout so much in these pages, but they seem to work out okay.
