My Dragon

Ok so I felt a huge itch after my first attempt. I totally enjoyed the class but wasnt happy at all of my outcome. It was definitely a process I had to go through.

This is the first attempt that I did.

It was a great learning experience as I was quite interested in trying out the free flow painting of Janes style, for a portrait on hot press paper as that is what I love painting on a daily basis. My learnings were that because with hot press if you do free flow painting, it gets loosey goosey, so being very light with the painting tends to look better I think. UNLESS.....

You go in with details and use tons of white acrylic lol
So I am quite happy with my second attempt. Show casing the colors I used.
First I went with Janes style of free flow painting. Then on second layer I really went into the details as much as my nerves will allow lol
And added some whites. I keep on coming back to using Daniel Smiths Suglite from the primatek series. Just connects me to the color of dragons in my mind.

These are the colors Ive used

Thank you for the class Jane! It was a great timing because last week I  finished painting a portrait of two characters from Ghibli Studio movie "Spirited Away" Haku and Sen. I primarily work on hot press for all my portraits so this class was fun to take a look at how free flow painting works on it to get a feel! (Sorry had to share this painting although off topic. Just quite happy that we were thinking about painting dragons at the same time :))

Thank you for the superb class yet again!
