Learn To Draw: A Beginner's Guide To Sketching Anything!

Hi Rachael, thank you so much for taking the class and sharing your wonderful sketch! You have done a really brilliant job with this - your subject, although seemingly relatively simple, has a couple of quite tricky aspects - the most tricky one being that oval shape for the top of the mug - I think from the reference, it should be a tiny bit more 'squashed' than in your sketch (so a little tighter angle at either side). Ovals are notoriously tricky - and really the best way of working with them is just tons and tons of practice - the different methods of drawing ovals in the class are a good place to start, with the aim of working towards drawing them freehand after lots and lots of practice (also drawing over reference images can help to get the 'feel' of drawing these kinds of tight ovals).Congratulations on doing such a wonderful job with this sketch - and I love how you have introduced some shading to it too!There will be a giveaway announcement coming soon - just to let you know that you will be entered into that having already posted a class project :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide all that detailed feedback. I'll absolutely take it on board and hope to try drawing something a little more complex next. I don't have a printer to draw on reference images but could maybe try tracing onto paper through my phone screen?

I messed up the curve at the bottom of the mug when using the pen at the end.  I welcome any other constructive criticism
