This is the winner :D

Firstly I thought about making yellow/brown head like a real onion but yellow was too bright and cheerful for this character so I decided on red onion and did the first one. Then as Jesse suggests I played around with hue and saturation: number 2 - I changed only lineart, 3. both lineart and colors, and the 4th version, the one I picked I changed only colors and ledt the lineart the way it was.
