Mixed Media Paper Weaving
These two are my newest woven artworks using a variety of papers I created for collaging. Rather than starting with the slit paper and weaving into that, I started by weaving the strips to each other and building up structure from the center outward. Check out my YouTube Channel in mid-January 2025 or in the Bonus video for a process video to see how I created using this modified weaving technique.
The one below started the same as the one above but I glued it into my sketchbook and then worked back in with related colors using Posca Pens and colored pencils.
Mixed Media Weaving:
I loved creating this one, weaving paper as well as strips of fabric, and then working back into the woven surface as I treated it as a textured canvas.
First Weavings:
I love the idea of working back into paper weavings. For this one I played with zig zag loom cuts and fun neon colors. Then using a ruler and circle stencil I worked back into the woven canvas to add bold elements of graphic black design.
