I decided to do the full cover for Stephen King's Misery.

The image presents the final artwork, with the cut and fold lines.

I read the book, and I choose the iconic Royal typewriter.  (Minor spoiler) In the novel the key for letter N is missing. Later on in the story other letters stop working. (End of minor spoiler). Being the cover, I wanted to reflect this early story anecdote by removing the letter N.

The reader can write the N on the cover page.

For the backcover I was going to use a photo of a '74 Camaro on the snow, but I did not like the results. So I used a torn paper texture with an overlapping snow texture.

The color blue reinforces the notion of cold that permeates the novel.

To convert the photo to vector I used Tracerpro by g Design. I worked on the images with Photoshop and InDesign.
