Modern abstract quilt project - 'Midnight Flight'.  I started with a plain black background and sandwiched the quilt.  I quilted white lines of varying stitches to give the quilt movement and add texture.  Then I layered the strips and circles - interlacing them and appliqued in place. I added more quilting to the circles and around the appliqued pieces.  Lastly, I pieced and appliqued the butterfly to the top.  I had difficulty squaring the quilt but I think it came out pretty good.  I made a label for the back.  Modern abstract has not been in my wheelhouse for quilts and I'm glad I took this course.  I also included a second quilt based on this process.
