I started with a page of orange scribbles whose textures I carried into the snake piece. (Watercolor and oil crayon.) The final result wasn't thrilling, so I turned the back of the painting into a black and blue piece (complementary color), then trimmed everything into an open spine book. Some of the mini-compositions are good, like the one with the tiny fedoras.
