He He you're title is brilliant ! I really love the pastel work over the top, I might give this a go myself.  If you're struggling with muddied colours, it may be because you're painting over the same area a few times, try to lay your colour down in one even layer and leave it if you can.  I have also struggled with this in the past.  I think he looks great though!

Your rooster has much personality Christine!  The plumage of his blue feathers is very pretty…He must be quite proud of them!!! :)
