Master 5 Complex Pattern Techniques in 2 Weeks
Hi everyone,
My name is Luciana, Im from Costa Rica :). I graduated last year from Architecture School and I’ve always been obsessed with graphic design, so because of that obsession i discovered surface pattern design and I’ve been in love ever since. I became a huge fan of Bonnie and thanks to her and her classes I started to make my own patterns and wanted to create a business around it. I’ve been super busy this year with my architecture career and planning my wedding for next year :), so I decided to take this workshop to dedicate time to myself and my love for patterns.
My goal is to keep building my business idea and to keep learning about this magical world of SPD.
SKETCHES
I scanned my sketches, the ones I'll be using in all the patterns in this workshop. I wanted to create a collection based on vintage flowers and inspired by 60's and 70's patterns. I love that look so I wanted to reflect that in my sketches and to transfer that feeling to my patterns.
I wanted to perfect each motif that ill be using for each of the patterns, so I started by choosing the ones I'll be using for the geometric pattern.
GEOMETRIC PATTERNS
These were the chosen ones :), so for the next step I'll be creating the color palette and making the first pattern for this workshop.
Color Palette and Motifs
I choose this color palette because it reflects the 60's vibe I'm looking for.

After playing around with the color wheel I ended up with this colors for the patterns. I also created some mock ups to test my patterns and take a glimpse to see how they would look in real life, I really like the result, hope you like it too. :)
