Limited Palettes for practical use outdoors

Exploring limited color palettes, firstly with 12 pan set (left, inner ring) to mix up secondary and tertiary colors (left, outer ring). I also enjoyed mixing what was left in my wells to create some unusual hues / tones (right, top & bottom).
I love this constrained approach to using a limited watercolor palette and it's practical for my outdoor painting – I'm more likely to stop and paint in a busy spot with a smaller set of paints :D

Further challenging myself to mix and overlay as many hues as possible with 12 color set. I came away with a fun "nebulous" cloud colorwheel too!

I then moved on to mixing with only cyan, magenta and yellow (left) – I loved this very limited approach, as I have a graphic design and print background and it felt quite intuitive to mix new colors as you would with printing inks.
Finally, I settled with a mini palette of only five colors: cyan, magenta and yellow PLUS pthalo green and ultramarine (right).
