Watercolor Backgrounds: From Beginner to Advanced

I was able to replace my original posting with this one where I improved the leaf shading.

I just signed up for FREE 'Adobe Express', which is an easy option for reducing the size of our project photos to the SkillShare requirement of no larger than 1000x690 pixels.

I would like to download the improved version of this lily, but seems we are allowed only one project download. I could click 'edit project' and replace it with the improved version, but I fear then all the comments/likes would disappear.

If I edit my current project pic by replacing it with my improved version, will all the comments/likes disappear?

Lovely and delicate! Especially love your use of values in the leaves and background &amp; subtle shading in the lily. Minimal fussing &amp; brushstrokes is also a goal of mine!

Thank you. The day after I posted this, I went back in and did another light wash on the bent leaf in front. Perhaps this was fussing, but I am happier with the result since the underside of that leaf is in shadow because it is bent down.

I don't consider that fussing at all. I consider it seeing an issue and enhancing it.  Hope you'll consider uploading your "Do-Over" 

If you ever get a chance to see my project you'll see I did the same thing you're talking about; deepening the underside of  the front leaf since it is in the shadow area.

 I haven't yet gotten to the point of mastering "light" applications  you've achieved since I'm always going over my strokes to smooth them out, hence, adding a little more paint each time.  It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't have the delicate  translucent feel of your flower. The delicate touch of purple &amp; aqua background compliments it.

How long have you been painting with watercolor?

I uploaded my image yesterday, but sadly it doesn't appear. All I see is a black box with the date.

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. Painting is kind of lonely, so interaction and feedback are wonderful! I will try to upload my improved lily, but don't hold your breath; it's not easy to do. I have been painting for just two years- self taught and then gazillions of YouTube videos, trial and error with landscapes and flowers, and now birds.

This lily is wonderful Dawn, I can’t wait to see your 2nd rendering.  I agree that it’s nice to have interaction with our paintings.  I have quite enjoyed the many painting souls I am “meeting” while painting and meandering on skillshare!

Still working on minimal fussing and minimal brushstrokes.&nbsp;
