Pink Daisy Field in Watercolor: Layering Greens | Series Week 2

Judy, beautiful daisies! In the nature there are no pure colors, there could be some reflections of sky on the petals, those additional shades add more volume and beauty!! So tender artwork! :)

Judy, I love this! 😊 The soft greens fading into the background create such a lovely sense of depth, and your flowers have a light, cheerful feel that fits this style so well. I especially love how much movement there is throughout the piece. Nothing feels stiff or overworked. And honestly, those little surprises that happen with watercolor are part of the charm. We don't always notice what the brush is doing until we step back and look at the finished painting. I think you handled the extra moisture beautifully, and now you have plenty of beautiful greens ready for the next project! Most of all, I love seeing how much you're practicing and experimenting. Your confidence is growing with every class, and it shows. Thanks for sharing another lovely piece with us.

I was so disappointed with this one that yesterday morning I did another one. I forgot the magenta goes toward the center and put it at the ends. My buds are better here. The top portion of the paper does not show any pink, so maybe the lighting was not optimal. Forward!

Loose is fine, if it’s intended, but this one veered off and went loopy instead of simply loose!

Hey Vily! I was eagerly waiting to do this particular painting. I watched the class, watched it again and then watched while I was painting. I don’t think we were supposed to put a wash of plain wet on the top part which is where the blue paint must have joined the pinks to create that purple color. I really wanted this one to be nice, so I may try again using a higher quality paper. I’ve heard that paper is your most important supply, and I have begun to see the truth in that. Thanks, Christine. I didn’t like the salt, and I made a mistake doing a plain wet wash (with hidden blue????)  on top then painting the petals. I don’t think I was supposed to do that. I appreciate your feedback. Best, Judy

Apparently I had very watery blue on my brush before I painted the daisies. I never even saw it until I saw it in the photo. The top got too wet, and my daisies spread out a bit much. I may try it again, Hey, by now I have extra greens mixed to take me through next year! LOL!
