Learn to Paint from a Reference Image

(1) Reference Photo (from hike to Grinnell Glacier - Glacier National Park, Montana)

(2) Monochrome Image

(3) Composition Sketch - the focal point will be the lake.
(4) Tonal Sketch - very rough, but I think I can see the areas that are the darkest (pines and shadows on glacier) and lightest (snow on glacier, parts of lake and sky, and yellow flowers)

(5) Final Sketch - will add details with brush. Using 10” x 7” paper.
