Jamin' with Ben Moore Colors

I enjoyed the class. Carrie is always so upbeat in her classes. I recolored a pattern I recently created in another Skillshare class. I recolored using many of the Benjamin Moore colors. There isn't much of a difference since I just created this pattern. I was using colors on trend to begin with. I did use Benjamin Moore 825 Blue Nova in the updated version.
I was aware that these color palettes are available on the retailers website for free because I had made use of one the palettes a few years ago. Since you are a big fan of Spoonflower and are discussing helpful color palettes in this class, I was a little surprised that Spoonflower's own color palette was not included in this class. It was last updated in 2021. If you don't already have it, it can be obtained from.

Click on the link for Adobe Swatch Exchange File. Like the other color palettes it completely free.
One other tip I would like to add not only is naming the Color swatch Group a good idea. If you are creating a color palette using names from the retailers you should also take the time to give each color swatch in the palette a name.
1.Add each of the colors to your group in the swatch menu.
2. After each color is placed in the group go in and click select it in the swatch panel to make it active.
3. Go to the hamburger menu in the swatches panel.
4. From the drop down menu choose Swatch Options. A new window will open up. Name the color what the retailer has named it in the Swatch Name Field. (When you have the retailers library open hoovering over the color it will tell you the name.) I took the time to name the blue 825 Blue Nova and all the colors I used from Benjamin Moore.
I know it might seem tedious to do this and you may be wondering why one might take the time to do this. It is so you can find it again with ease. Now that you have named your file just like Benjamin Moore. If your client asked you to recolor your work to match a certain Benjamin Moore color you can find it again with ease.
5. In the swatches menu choose the hamburger menu choose Show Find Field. It will have a check mark next to it if it is active. Now a tiny search field will appear above your swatches window. In the window you can put either the name or the number and your color will come up making it easy to find. It will locate every time you have included that color in groups. A Find Field also appears at the top of every swatch library you open in Illustrator too. This is the start of harnessing the power of libraries and speeding up workflow.
I hope this helps those new to Illustrator. I take a lot of classes on workflow even ones that I already know how to do, because there is so much to know, and you never know where a gem of a tip for improving work flow is going to come from.
