I did not know that BBQ babyshowers did exist! But this is a perfect invitation with the colors, letters, layout and textures! Very clever choices!!! Compliments!!!

Bravo Dandi Things! Thank you so much for your wonderful project! BBQ themed baby showers are very popular right now, so great choice if you're interested in selling your work! I love how you've made the BBQ stand out in the text. I also really like your limited palette inspired by sweet, summery watermelon! The polka dots add a level of youthfulness and sweetness. If I could give you a minor suggestion, I would scale down the size of the black text "It's a", "join us to honor", and the text with the shower details. It would give more breathing room/white space and also help with the hierarchy. Usually for such text I would use between 8 and 11 point size depending on the font I use. Thank you again for your project! Keep up the great work!

 Yes, font choice does significantly impact the size of the font choice. I love the font One Seventy. It works so well for quite a few occasions. It adds levity to invitations without being overbearing. However, One Seventy is not very legible at smaller sizes. The smallest size I used One Seventy on this invitation was 14 points. This invitation also has the added challenge of not having any color in the middle. Which works really nice with this particular motif because it adds to the crisp presentation of the watermelon and summer theme. 5x7 is a lot of space to fill when you basically only have text to design with. Hahaha. 


Thank you for noticing the BBQ. I didn't like this design until I did two things: Hide the BBQ in the word baby, and make it the color reflect watermelon. This is what I felt tied the whole invitation together.

Hi Caroll thank you so much for your kind words. If you haven't given invitation / card design a whirl in AD you definitely should. I definitely like vector programs for invitation/card design over pixel programs. You can do so much more to text in a vector program than a pixel program. If I remember correctly the Katherine text is made of a pattern text, an outline applied to the back with a slight shadow and then warp added to it. The text is live,  so I can retype it and it's still perfectly cute. Vector programs handle text so much easier than pixels when you want to doll your text up. ;-)
