It really is Anita.  Amazing how these type of classes help us even with our painting.  I think it helps with the ‘loosen’ up part of our brain.  Just fun to do :)

Hello Diana, Thank you for sharing these and the review!There’s a point where chaos and control, deliberateness and spontaneity, structured and abstract each find a balance and harmony. You are working from that place! It’s exciting, expressive, free while still using the rational mind’s input with structure composition and story.The exercises are all excellent, with beautiful use of speed. Your openness to experimentation and play is wonderful! In the first spontaneous drawing has an interesting mix of speeds, showing how draw very differently you draw at each speed. It’s great to be able to adjust speed up,and down, depending on the kind of drawing you want to do!In drawing two, “ You’re Happy Place” you dialed in a speed that allows you to be intentional while spontaneous. Notice the repeating elements; the door echoes the mountain, as does the bottom of the second cloud. The smoke echoes the mountain climber. This happens when in a creative flow. The rational mind doesn't think to make these repeating forms, they pop up intuitively while working completely in moment. I also love the way the footprints transition from carefully formed circles to loose marks to strokes. These are all outstanding! Joe

Thanks Joe for your keen eye on depicting what you see with these spontaneous pieces.  Goes to show there is structure even during chaos and that our mind does follow a flow depending on the moment.  When I found the drawing from the first time I took the class, I remembered how much fun it was to do, hence the reason I went for it a 2nd time.  Enjoyed it even more the 2nd time around.  I know I can use these type of exercises to warm me up when I just can’t get my paint hand going or for that matter, when I just want to relax :):):)

Oh this is the perfect class for anyone.  No drawing experience needed.  It’s also a fairly quick class to do and you can use just pen and regular paper.  It really helps loosen the mind :)

Hey Joe! As I promised you I found my spontaneous doodles from when I watched and doodled your class awhile back but never posted. Decided to watch and doodle again…..what fun!  In the evening is when I like to watch the drawing classes or just get out paper and doodle! I’ve got scratches, doodles and intuitive marks all over the place. It really is a great way to relax.
