Iberian Lynx

This was another wonderful watercolor class! I loved using the masking fluid and salt to obtain texture in the fur. The nib pen worked great to create the whiskers! I especially loved how the flow of the paint and the water created the body and thus only one layer was necessary. Brilliant! Thank you, Jane, for teaching us how to paint this beautiful animal.

Jane, thank you also for sharing the conservation video for this endangered species. I know that here in the states, Ohio has many "under the road" culverts for the animals to use so that they can get across busy highways safely.

Here in South Florida, there is a little butterfly called the Atala butterfly. In the late 1900s the butterfly was almost extinct and was on the endangered species list. For the last 10 years or so I have been working with a butterfly researcher at the University of Florida trying to bring this pretty, precious, funny little butterfly back to the South Florida area. We have planted more of its host plants and more of its favorite nectar plants. Counts over the years have shown that this little butterfly is making a comeback, despite hurricanes and traffic! It is now off the endangered species list. It is still considered imperiled but has made great strides in recovering. Thank goodness for all these kind humans who use their time to save these creatures! Again, Jane, thank you for using your voice to do such good.
