How to Sketch Places Quickly
Next month I am going traveling for a couple of days and I was inspired by Olga's easy technic and set-up of travel journaling but in reality, I couldn't do any of my sketches out in the open. I walked a few steps to behind my house to take a picture of the scenery and then I came home and sketched... I don't know if I have a creative block about sketching outside or if I can't see the scene without the borders of a photo limiting me, or if it is just too much of a hassle to try and balance things and stand and draw at the same time let alone drag a chair out to the point I want...
This was another neighborhood scene (I live in Japan) that I recreated from a photo.
My third sketch was also from just a few steps beyond my house but I took a photo of the scene and then returned home. I had just purchased some Caran D'Ache Neocolor II crayons and this was the first time for me to try those and I was proud of myself for being playful and loose and not worrying about accuracy or perspective or shadows etc.
Someday I'm going to have to make the break into sketching outdoors (it's not even the public that I'm worried about as there is rarely anyone around in my country surroundings!) but I don't know if I'll be ready by next month!
