Wonderful, Mel! That spooky granulation in your sky and the salt technique you did looks like frost crystals illuminated by the moon. I love the burnt orange with the Payne's grey and the way you painted your tree. You are showing such great dimension in the tree and Spanish moss.

Hi Mel - I love your result too. You’ve achieved some create contrast between the background sky and water against the heron and moon focal points. The salt technique has worked really well. I really like the splashes of orange in the branches and the feathery detailing on the heron. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the class and trying out some new techniques. If you like painting wildlife take a peek at my Tiger Otter and Chimpanzee classes - they include other techniques you may not have come across too. Using Winsor Newton Paints (except Schmincke Transparent Orange) on an old block of Canson 300gsm paper.  Thank you for such an in depth tutorial.  I got to practice a lot of new techniques - including 'fix ups' lol - and LOVE the result.
