Character Design Crash Course: Dynamic Design in Four Steps

I don't know what's the story behind the character, but this design says so much about him. I feel I can imagine his voice, his way of moving a bit of his personality. You really hit the spot, on my opinion!

Wow, such a fun style! He has so much character in him. Been working on getting that kind of lighting myself, I like the boldness of it and the gradient. Can't seem to get my own lighting gradients to work cohesively with my other colours, I think maybe coloured filters are key to harmonizing my palettes. Could do your own class on lighting you could. And I really appreciate how even with his age and grit you still gave him big eyes. I don't appreciate the line of thinking that says you have to shrink them to get those traits across. Especially in males. Gonna be taking pointers from this example, you did such a great job. Wish I had actual criticism to help you on your own journey since you've inspired mine. Seems like you'd be open to that sort of thing given your previous comment. Oh well. This is really nice.

Evan, this is so awesome! I love him. His face has so much character (that nose! :D) and that dramatic coloring is A-MAZ-ING. Thanks so much for posting!

I'd be honored! I really do appreciate the kind words. One way or another, I'm of the opinion one never stops learning, and anyone can find something to learn from another artist almost completely regardless of level or experience.
