Georgie's printmaking - Midnight Honeysuckle
My boyfriend bought me a lino printing kit for my birthday and I'm excited to share the results of my first ever lino printing session!
I enjoyed trying all the techniques Liz shared in the class and came up with a few pretty fun ghost prints too. I found, to begin with, I wasn't putting enough ink on the tray, but when I used a bit more on other prints, it turned out how I hoped. Saying that - the ones with less ink show a bit more texture and just look different.
The block I had was just the right size for postcards and the living room turned into an art attack, trying different paper. I had some watercolour paper handy and found the cotton-based one turned out super nice. We even had a spare t-shirt lying around and thought, why not! Apparently, the ink I have isn't waterproof... but I'll look at Liz's fabrics class too.
On the reverse of my lino, I tried making some marks, not intended to be a piece of work, but they ended up looking pretty cool! One of those happy accidents.
Something I'd like to learn to do eventually is how to use more than one colour that isn't an ombre effect. I'll get a better feel for this first I think! Thanks, Liz for sharing your class and making a fun afternoon.
The final result ready to send off to family and friends!
