Fun Watercolour Techniques: Ice Lollies

Ice lollies are SO much fun to paint! It's a great subject for practicing different techniques, whether you are completely new to watercolours or just want to improve and paint something bright and fun.
In this class I take you through a range different techniques that you can use to paint lollies, that will also be useful in your other artwork. These include manipulating values with your water-to-pigment ratio, blending, the kiss technique, wet on wet, wet on dry, layering, four ways to create highlights and creating texture with water drops and salt. I then show you how to paint ten different ice lollies starting simple and increasing in detail and realism to show you how you can build up the techniques.
For the project, you can simply practice the techniques and paint one or two lollies, paint all ten and then design your own, or go one step further and make a finished piece by digitising your artwork with my digitising class and adding some lettering to it, perhaps for your kitchen wall or for a gift!
I have posted some ideas for quotes in the Communities tab, so check that out for some inspiration if you want to add some lettering to your art, comment on it with any more quotes you can think of so we can inspire each other!
