Food Icons

I had so much fun working on this!

So I started in procreate with the icon template and used the Chalk brush to draw the first pass. I stuck with the food theme (mostly Japanese food because I was craving sushi that day!). I also did a few icons for my kid's school newsletter (you can see a couple of those at the end).

I inked over the original sketches in Procreate using the Bronzewing brush. I feel like that brush worked really well for the icons themselves, but I ran into some issues with it when it came to the text under the icons.

Then I moved into Illustrator. I have the lineart on one layer and the colors on another so that both can be tweaked as needed.

Like I mentioned above,  I don't think Bronzewing was the right choice for the text. Or maybe I needed to spend a little more time on the settings when it comes to vectorizing the text?

Either way I do enjoy how the icons came out. And I love that I can use this method to create assets (like stickers and t-shirts) for my kid's class!
