Farbienne's Projects 1,2 & 3
I really like this course, it's such a great summary of all sorts of things you're struggling with as a beginner.
Project 1 - Mountains Ranges
The colors were nice during the test mixing, but i didn't make enough of them and the finished mixes became too reddish somehow. Plus my sketchbook was too small for this project, but I understood the principle.
The "Cutting in" has become much darker than the rest of the same colored area with the larger brush. Probably next time I will have to leave the big brush drier than the small one before I go into the paint. In the lowest color area I compensated for this by also doing the upper edge with the big brush.
How much you can learn with such a simple project. I'll do the others as well. :-)
Project 2 - Sail Boats
I really liked doing the sail boats. Although the sky was still quite wet, the darker Sienna did not run enough, so that I feel that all the borders (of the cloud and of the background) are too hard now. Apparently it was not wet enough anymore, which probably means that next time I have to add more water to the basic mixture.
This is the best paper I have found as a sketchbook so far. And to do this exercise on worse paper is useless, because then everything dries even faster.
Projekt 3 - Misty pine trees
This project also looked easier than it actually was. I am not satisfied with the shapes of my trees, but the approach is okay. Looks like I'll have to do the project a few more times until it looks the way I want it to.
So I did the project again, this time also on my best paper, and the result is much better! I'm very happy with it. :-)
