All About Curves - Dazzling Designs in Blender 3D

The ring is stunning I haven't created anything in blender but I created a ring in tinkercad and cooksongold.com cast it for me they do a 3d personalised casting service bring your designs to life in the real world for you.. I make my own jewellery silversmithing is one of my hobbies i can't really comment on the design itself as I said I haven't tried blender good luck with your design journey agnes...

Hi Shehroze! Thank you very much for sharing your project. I think it really is an amazing result. You have paid much attention to all the details. I can see how the design is carefully laid out: the delicate pattern looks light and playful, it gives a beautiful rythm for the eye to follow along. You kept a good balance between the deep red stones, the yellow gold, and the white gold highlights. I like how this ring reminds me of waves, or feathers of birds, confiserie (the white gold as cream and the stones as strawberries!) or architecture - lots of associations come to mind. In general, it is pleasant to look at and the precious structure would invite the hands to touch.   Two things regarding the real world feasability: First, I would advise to pay close attention to the material thickness. As it looks now, the small wires might be too thin for casting, and would have to be assembled/soldered manually. The manufacturing of such a ring could be a challenge - but I could image that an experienced goldsmith would find a way no problem. Second, stones all around the ring can always invite smashing one of them against a hard surface and shattering. This is a problem with all rings who have stones all around. The rendering is beautifully done, great usage of accent lights and glow.  Once more, thank you for sharing. Hi Gesa, Thank you for the feedback i really appreciate it. I’m not new to 3D but I still struggle with many aspects. I’ve been following your tutorials for a few months. I’m not always consistent because of my responsibilities and work but your tutorials are short, clear and give me the in‑depth knowledge I need to improve. Lighting and colors are areas where I’ve been struggling but since last year I’ve been focusing on improving in that department. When I first started following your tutorials, my main goal was to understand jewelry and curves. Curves fascinate me and I’ve been exploring their use in 3D. I’ve watched many tutorials on curves in general, but seeing them applied specifically to jewelry was amazing. Rendering jewelry is complicated but I experimented with using a gradient texture to light the scene. This gave enough reflections to highlight the luxury feel of the jewelry. A good piece of jewelry shines and that’s what I wanted to capture. For 3D printing, I think my design isn’t fully compatible because of thickness issues in the middle part.

Hi Shehroze, I'm humbled to hear that you appreciate my work so much. I'm very happy that it helps you improving your skills.  Curves are indeed a fascinating technique in Blender. They are incredible versatile and it is very rare that I don't utilize them in a project. Also, I would love to see your setup with the gradient texture if you'd like to share it. It sounds like a great idea to give some variety to the reflections! I agree that a good jewelry rendering captures the sparkle and shine of the different high quality materials. This makes it stand out, and you did such a good job on this. You might want to look into caustics if you want to recreate the dispersion of gem stones more realistically in Blender, there are a few render engines and add-ons that offer that, e.g. LuxCoreRender. And I agree, for 3D printing the design would have to be altered. But it is great as a concept.  Once again, well done. Proud to have projects as these in my class.  Kind regards,Gesa

Hi Gesa  I have updated my Project submission with more details, you can check now. I have included wireframe, compositor setup and Lighting setup.
