Dialogue from The Ghost Mother
As Becca walked out of the steaming hot shower she noticed the bathroom was full of steam covering even the mirror. She wipes her hand across the mirror to clean of the condensation off the mirror. Becca stood and stare at Rose’s perfect physique; Long flowing blond hair, round blue eyes and plump full red lips. As she looks further down she sees Rose’s flawless skin, perky round breasts and tiny waist. Becca suddenly sense something in the air, something cold but not unfriendly. And then she sees it, the shadow in the mirror behind her. Becca turned around but nothing was there. She looked in the mirror and the shadow were still where it was a moment ago.
“I’m not ready to go. I have a family to care for. Dale doesn’t even know how to cook. How could he care for Josh?” Becca said to the shadow.
The shadow impressed upon Becca that its concern is only her not her family. It also informed her that by staying here in the living world she is doing herself a disservice. Spirits that have died and refuses to move on will become bitter and eventually malevolent.
“I don’t care.”
The shadow asked her about Rose; Rose is losing her lifeforce because Becca is in her body. Is she really being that selfish?
“What about me? Rose had a good life, she’s travelled, had many admirers. Why can’t I live this life? Just a little bit? To be with my family? To say goodbye at least.”
The shadow advised her that the longer she stays here the harder it will be to leave. And then it disappears.
Becca wiped away the tears that had been forming on Rose’s pretty cheeks. Dressed herself and went to lay in Rose’s silk sheeted bed.
