Define your leadership persona

Define your leadership persona - student project

Hi, my name is Cynthia and I'm about to start my team leadership experience! People I have worked with have described me as smart, calm, and funny, but as a team leader they would describe me as forward-thinking and action-focused. When I am outside my comfort zone, I typically handle challenges by learning news skills (like taking this course!) and planning ahead. Most people believe I am fantastic at writing, but my true superpower is curiosity. In the future, I hope to improve both my stability and flexibility to lead teams more effectively.

To be my best self at work, I need transparency from my team. When my team provides me with honesty and accountability, I feel I have everything I need to truly be a great leader.

For my direct reports to get the most out of me, I feel they need reliability from me. When I provide strength and motivation, I get the best work and feedback from my team.

Reviewing my leadership style, I feel Lewin's democratic persona overall describes my management style the best. Because that's a pretty broad category, I feel my thoughtfulness, my quality focus, and my participative listening are also very important to how I managed others.

Overall, I am a leader who values vision setting and comunication. I commit to keep learning continuously and inspiring trust in order to be the best boss I can be.
