I loved the colors and blooms in my front porch planter. So, I used photos of this planter for inspiration!

I sketched my composition primarily in Adobe Illustrator, based on my photo.

I created and organized templates for the elements in my composition.

Fabric selection - my favorite part! I chose bright, vibrant, semi-solid fabric colors, mostly batiks. I traced my templates onto the fusible web paper and organized them by fabric type.

Starting to see the project coming together as it's assembled on my background fabric!

Detail time! I started by adding a base layer of thread painting to my elements.

Next, I created texture and dimension by adding some hand embroidery stitches.

And then, I quilted my composition to mimic the look of lush foliage running through the background.

After a little binding, voilà! My project is complete!
