Dabbling with Direct Painting

Dabbling with Direct Painting - student project

This course has been a real eye opener for me.

I loved the efficiency and liveliness of sketching with the brush!

Since trying the techniques, I’ve been painting rather than drawing, …though I’ve noticed that I’ll need to work on my composition skills which have suffered as I learn to balance accurate observation with water control.

As an artist with sight loss, my eyes tire easily when trying to sketch with fine pencil lines prior to adding watercolour.
Thus, I appreciate direct painting for its efficient and impactful means of sketching with bold marks.

BRUSHES USED:

Tintoretto mop size 0,  WN Cotman one stroke,  WN Cotman round size 4.
