Creating Calm with Scent

I want my house to feel very calming, and this class convinced me to pay more attention to using scent to help. I enjoy natural scents the best (lavender, pine and other woodsy scents, etc).

I like the idea of having a signature scent for the house, but after this video series I think having one per room works better after learning scent fades after only 15 minutes. It would enhance the experience because walking into a new room would bring a new smell. It could also help me associate the smell with what the activity that room is meant for (like sleep for a bedroom).

I'm thinking of using lavender for the bedroom, various woodsy smells for more active areas, and maybe other more refreshing florals for the bathroom. I don't know what to do with the kitchen though. It always just smells like whatever I cooked last night and the mixed smell wouldn't likely smell that great.
