The first muffin photo has several mistakes: composition (clutter, not clear which one is the main object), styling (not particularly styled photo, just muffins placed on a napkin with other objects in the background), lighting (harsh, artificial light from the top with unpleasant hue).

The second muffin photo is styled, lighted and composed much better. The main objects (the two muffins) are nicely framed by their surroundings. The light is coming from the right and it creates a nice shadow on the left.
