Chickadee for Amy Earls
Watercolor chickadee!
Palette: jane's grey, quid rose, Prussian blue, burnt umber
Happy: the branch snowy texture, horizon placement, the head texture & contrast, claws, use of rose on the birb to help move the eye around, palette works, nice subtle snowfield
Challenge: too outlined-looking--I should not have added so much wing darkness; main body needed more planning (looks haphazard in places--should have used a larger brush); background brushstrokes too visible to its detriment--I definitely need to do more variegated wash practice!
This class was great for teaching me how to use masking fluid properly (I did not know the soap trick!) and a useful variation on a variegated wash.
Thank you, Amy!
