Changes so far...
Above is a screenshot of our old homepage. Below is a screenshot of the new format. As you can see the banner has a lot of clutter, so we've made it much simpler. All of the videos have the same simple font and format, which we didn't have before.
As for our plan for the future: we had planned to take a trip in June 2020, but obviously we can't. Instead we've decided to launch a podcast all about budget travel to share our stories and have uploaded these to YouTube and Soundcloud. This will help us to continue to push out new content regularly. Furthermore, we aim to invite guests on to the podcast in order to collaborate with others and grow our audience further. We have been much more engaging on Instagram and posting regular posts, interacting with our audience more and more.
We've tried to stick to a blue colour for the majority of our thumbnails as it reflects our openness and positive nature, as well as matches or logo. Unfortunately, at the time of filming we did not consider thumbnails too strongly. This is something we would go back and change and will do for sure in future videos. Our favourite thumbnail though is from episode 8, as it shows a hidden discovery we made that we hoped would get people clicking, while also having a clear headline.
When we first started filming, back in August last year we did not plan and looking back over the videos it is definitely clear that we were finding our feet. Moving forward we hope to apply the lessons learnt through this course to improve the quality of the content in our videos. We plan to use the podcast as a way to grow our audience during this time and direct our new videos to the channel.
We also hope to spend this time learning to become better editors, as there are certainly some aspects we need to improve.
