Bullet Journal

Bullet Journal - student project

The best thing I did for myself when starting this project, was instead of going out and buying a cool, new, pre-paginated journal, I used an empty, old, recycled composition book. This way the pressure was off. And I think that was an important message to take from the entire class because sometimes the perfectionist and no-mistake attitude is what actually paralyzes me. Instead, I focused on using a favorite pen which can make all the difference (signo 207, uni-ball). I added some stickers to cover up old marks and tried out some of my unused features on my label maker.

I also avoided looking at any Pinterest boards to see page ideas until I was ready for some inspo to change things up for certain themed pages. And again, I made myself stay LOW PRESSURE.

Also, starting in October, instead of January, was amazingly liberating. I have 3 months until January, and then I can get a fancy new journal -- if I even want to/need to.

I used a post-it to make my month grids for the future log.

I made a list of all the categories & projects that swarm around my brain. I already have a well-used digital calendar, a daily to-do list, many notes in my iPhone notepad... but there is an area of my life that is not on paper, or is on many scraps of paper. I thought this bullet journal was a great way to contain some of this stuff, and maybe take some ideas from scrap paper to fruition. I like the idea of some accountability in a low-stress manner too.

I am excited to bring some colored pencils into this journal. And I am excited to see how dedicated I stay with filling this out. I'd love to see myself migrating > ideas from an art projects idea list > to more hashed-out thoughts > to a final project.

I loved the video lessons and felt like they were jam packed with inspiration and varied levels of bullet journaling.
