Practicing Brush Work - Loose Watercolour Boats

You have got some nice movements. I like the activities going on in the background, too.

Nice work! I know what you mean, only recently did I practice straight lines, I had some real issues with them. It helped me to use a little more pressure than usual, it pushes the brushes a bit on the paper and the lines get straighter. A rigger or sword brush hold nice amounts of water so the lines don't interrupt-unless you want that effect. It can look more natural depending on the subject.

Thank you for the tip of pushing the brush a bit more on the paper. When I use a finer brush, my lines are usually okay.

nooo don't use the ruler - i love the freedom of the shaky lines, it adds so much movement, they are perfect as is.

Thank you, Nadine. I usually use a finer brush, but this thick brush just wasn't letting me paint in one line. I was also anxious to get them straight. I know it's not the brush but the hand painting the lines. It was a good exercise to use one brush.

I'm happy with my boats. The lines are a bit shaky. Netx time I'll us aruler and black pen.&nbsp;
