After selecting a font on Canva and printing out my alphabet R, I explored some pattern elements - flowers, buds, fruits, leaves and fillers 

 

Then I traced the R on to a tracing sheet and composed the pattern composition on it, putting together all the pattern motifs.

Next, I inked the whole pattern with a fine liner pen.

 

Then I transferred this sketch on to the watercolour paper.

 

I then, inked this sketch once again. This step is to make the pattern visible from under the gouache paint, thus making it easier to outline with the gold pen.

 

After this step I coloured the whole R with gouache paint.

 

And finally, I inked the pattern with the gold gel pen.
