OOOH this is amazing! Thank you for posting the very first project for my class and for your great review. You have made my day You did a beautiful set of experiments. I particularly like the mercerised thread. I have never had such a cool effect. I will have to investigate. What is Agar-Agar? It makes a lovely texture.

Some call it Agar-agar.  Some call it agar powder.  On the bottle it says it is a vegetarian substitute for gelatin derived from marine red algae.  I purchased it from my local organic whole foods store two years ago when a peach torte recipe called for it.  The torte was lovely but I haven’t had the need for Agar powder since last night when I hatched the idea of dropping some in the paint.  I was one ingredient short as I had no bubble wrap.  Can you believe it?  In this post-COVID, Amazon order crazy world we live in, I had no bubble wrap. LOL.

I didn’t know you could get a vegetarian version of gelatine. Makes sense though. It’s not the sort of ingredient we would use, but I might get some anyway to play with. No bubble wrap! We have a glut. I save it for a friend who is a felt artist. She gets through tons of the stuff.
