Bird illustration in 3-color letterpress

I thought you might like to see my behind-the-scenes process of the cover art for this class.

I created this bird and flower illustration a while back for a notebook cover. Here is my original drawing, which I designed in Procreate:

I applied my letterpress technique to each color layer, and adjusted the color palette. I used the white paper background texture that I provide in the class resource section. This is how it looked at that step:

Below is how my layers palette looks in Photoshop. (The title and title border layers have the letterpress effect applied, but you just can’t see it because I’ve collapsed their effects using the small arrow on the right edge of the layer.)

For the class cover, I then cropped a portion of it and added a bit more of the pink accents. Voilà! Simple as that!
