It's a little unbalanced, but I'm happy enough with it for my first attempt.  Completed in Affinity Designer, with no real sketching stage (other than a quick, basic shape for the bird).   I got stuck on the bird, and almost turned it into a butterfly.

My background is mostly in fractal or 3d art, with no experience in traditional or vector art until now.
