Step-by-Step Guide to Painting Cherry Blossoms (Sakura) Using Watercolor

I looooove all of them, Olga! Sorry for the very late reaction :'D I'm glad you had fun experimenting with backgrounds. I also love painting the same things more than once. It's a great way to know the subject better and discover new ways to paint the same things.

Genius anatomically correct advise. Can't write  more now, but thanks, and you are SPOT-ON!

Oooooh! YES! You do know how to put a great background in and those white areas around the flowers make the whole work so alive! Both versions are a joy to gaze upon, and I admire how you do a project more than once, good take-away lesson for me.

I'm not on the level of trying to make them look alive, I was just trying to paint a flower - which is so much more struggle for me than a portrait and just mildly bothered with their appearance. I do like the concept of pink flowers in the snowstorm though. And this wasn't doing a project more than once - it was doing them all in the same time so no waiting for anything to dry - first layer on the fourth done = first painting ready for second layer. Doesn't work for me with more complex stuff I think, but with the flowers it really DID worked. I was unable to paint a decent looking flower like that and making it so many times made me understand what I'm doing and how to do it.Thanks to your work I can keep on the thought that at the end of the day I can make a postcard out of it!

Looks like you could get beautiful cards (plural) from this project. I think postcards are fussier than using an envelope. I am terrified of any human representation and working on my drawing practice since I can sit and hold a board while doing that. I fell 3 times yesterday, and once I fall, I’m stuck there until rescue! UGH!

Falling three times sounds horrifying. I hope it won't happen again. But since I kind of been there I can offer a tip too - if you sit for longer periods of time, it's safest to do it where you can put legs up (on the line of the pelvis) for periods of time and do light exercises with moving feet around while you're sitting.  You don't have to do any human representation. You can always choose like Easter Island sculpts attempt, or creatures in a dream. And this may sound not cool but I'm so jealous of people who can't draw but are doing it cause their drawings are theoretically not good, but really, there is like them... and and the big BIG painters where it comes to style. It's more often artistically unique, full of style and really interesting to look at if there is a lot of that and that style becomes noticeable. While people who can draw... it's insane amount of work to kind of get BACK to create pieces that aren't just looking good/proper but also have that consistent style of expression.

Yes experimenting is great Olga. Having fun with colours and textures. I really like the vibrancy of the last 2 paintings.

Thank you. Pro tip - if you ever feel like spraying a bit of water on completely dried "liquid watercolor" from Pebeo don't (that's how almost all blue second painting came to be and I had to do the rescue attempt with guache)

Color choices determined by the availability of liquid watercolor paints that I happened to have. This class is a great excuse to experiment with backgrounds.
