Apples and Oranges

Apples and Oranges - student project

It was very exciting to be taking another class from you!

Here are some of my rough sketches:Apples and Oranges - image 1 - student project

I liked all the sketches I made but at this point I was still struggling with what this mystery product which must be featured in the design might be. Sketches 1 and 3 weren't helping me with brainstorming but with the second sketch I immediately thought that comparing two items might end up in a nice result and I could already see how the character could be animated.

In the end, she's comparing apples and oranges with an overall fruit and veggie theme. Looks like she has made her decision, I could not really choose one over the other myself :)

This year I am on my journey to pursue motion design more seriously so after consulting the animator (me!) I decided to make this a vector illustration as it's what I prefer to work with in AE over PSD files.

And here's the final result. I am quite happy with the colors, it's not really what I usually go for in terms of palette but it turned out quite alright. One thing that bothers me a little is the lack of texture but that's a bit of an Illustrator problem, I think if I were to move this to AE I would add a little more animated texture there natively.

Thank you very much for this class, I enjoyed it a lot! Hearing from your husband was also very informative and the humor in the class was great :D (what was that about an animation in photoshop class I heard about?)

Thanks again! Amazing class as usual! I hope you have a lovely day!
